On Saturday, November 9, 2024, Mr. Jimmy Zhao, founder and director of Fotric, came to Normandy to discover his company’s first French offices. Accompanied by his international sales director, Ms. Celine Niu, Jimmy presented his company, its products, and its objectives to us with passion and brilliance.

What is Fotric?

Fotric is a company founded in Shanghai in 2011 by Jimmy Zhao. It specializes in the development of thermal and acoustic imaging devices for industrial use.

From its inception through 2022, its capacity for innovation and precision allowed it to secure a crucial position in China and to match its international competitors. As the Chinese market reached maturity, expanding internationally became a logical next step for Fotric. With nothing to envy in its American competitor Flir, Fotric first chose to establish itself in North America, and is now setting its sights on Europe.

Why Normandy

The choice of Normandy as its first European foothold is no coincidence. A strategic logistical position, proximity to the major industrial markets of the northwest, and a local ecosystem welcoming to technology companies — all factors that convinced Fotric to establish its European headquarters there.

Double-Link played a facilitating role in this setup: connecting the company with local economic players, providing administrative support, and preparing communication materials adapted to the French context. A mission that runs counter to the usual France → China flow — one that illustrates the profound evolution of economic relations between the two countries.

What This Says About the Market

Fotric’s arrival in France embodies a new momentum: mature, technological, structured Chinese companies are seeking European footholds. It is no longer only French companies going to China — China is now coming to Europe, with comparable standards of excellence and structured ambitions.

For Double-Link, this event reinforces our conviction: the commercial future between France and China will play out in both directions, and bicultural support is becoming a strategic competency.
